    Default 1945 Harley Grey

It's one color for this year and I've yet to find a color picture of a 1945 original paint. It looks real light on the black and white photos. Chris since it's usually you that end up helping me directly or indirectly, Is there and dupont number or good color picture that I can match. This seems to be one of the few years that no solid information is given.
Help!!!!! I'm ready to paint and have looked at some many greys I just want the correct answer. It's getting to the point where I want to get a Harley engine number stamp set and change it to a 46 so I can get the correct color.
At this time I will wait for one of the people who have run into same problem tell me. But it would be nice to have a judge tell me what would pass muster.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE

I think AMCA past president, Lonnie Campbell has a grey '44 or '45. It was my understanding the color was extremely well researched.

Thanks so much from both of you. Chris I can almost imagine you in a room with a bunch of computer monitors and your always there to give people like me who all know more than most but still its hard to find a go to guy who always seems to have an answer with proof at hand.
Yes there is the Harley signal once8 again and Our knowledgeable crusader is there to save us a whole lot of time and money researching when we just need in some cases a single piece of wisdom to complete a sub-assembly so that I can move on to the next sub-assembly until complete project is done. Some times you piss me off because you know more than I do about certain things but you are greatly appriciated when I just want the right answer.
Not to mention all the unique photos u seem to be able to find in a few moments. I promised myself if I got a line on this color by asking you out right I would say something that is totally out of character for me and thank you on this public forum. We all like to be acknowledged from time to time. Thanks.
PS that doesnt mean you haven't pissed me off more an once but you help a lot of people
Unless of coarse I cant get the color from that web address, then i take it all back.

Did I just have a flashback?

If I'm not pissing you off once in a while I'm not doing my job. :-)

Sidehacker, The color on the 1945 EL on the cover of Bruce Palmer's book was matched from original paint on the underside of the rear fender. It was covered with about a quarter inch of grease and mud. I cleaned it and polished it and took it to the paint store and they matched it up. The bike has been in the family since 1950. Good father and son story. PM me or call me and I will give you more info. Dave 954-802-4307
