    hi there,

simple question about engine oil. mixing 50 +60 just to make 55 oil.... is bad idea? how about mixing revteck and genuine oil ... bad too?

how often transmission should be changed?

    Dear "New Member,"

Regardless anyone's level of knowledge who posts a question asking for help such as Shin, "answers" such as yours are not helpful and unnecessary. This purpose of this forum is based on a brotherhood committed to being helpful to others by sharing what they know and not displays of wit at other's expense. Imagine how you would like it if someone on this board responded as you did to Shin. I'm assuming you joined this board because you might need help if you have an old motorcycle you want to keep running. If you're here auditioning for approval of your comedic talent to other motorcycle people, you might want to join a DB such as AdvRider's to showcase your egotism. AdvRider is a very helpful DB that also enjoys your type of wit. As you are a "new member," your answer is not one that will be helpful to getting help from most people on this DB.

Mixing different weights of conventional oil does no harm.
(I have no experience with Revtech oil, or mixing synthetic with conventional oil.)

A fresh assembly should have its oil changed quickly to remove 'break-in' debris.

First two rules of oil: Use clean oil, and lots of it.

You are right Steve , my apologies to shin & everyone else. I will sometimes run 50 in my shovel if I ride it in December, in mass. By the way, but back to 60 in spring. I see no reason to manufacture my own weight oil. I have however added 50 to the 60 to top it off before a ride because that’s all I had on hand. Sorry again, thought I was being funny, but I am building a 69 flh now & do appreciate honest & serious replies.

Hi HD, different viscosities may be OK but not different brands. Different additives may not play well with others

    I read somewhere, Folks,..

..among the thousands of oil threads..

That some oils are not compatible with bronze bushings.

Anybody know of this for certain?
