Could it be a 1925 model that was sold and titled in 1924? My Triumph is a 39 model but was bought by the original owner in October 1938. Did similar stuff happen in the USA?

yes, Dad bought a new CB750 Sept. 31st, 1969, registered and licensed it Oct. 6th, 1969. I was with dad when we got it licensed, the county clerk asked dad if he wanted to license it as a 1969 or a 1970, Dad said, "No use to make it a year old in 3 months let's register it as a 1970 Honda 750." So, they did.
