    Default 1935 VLD rebuild

    Hello!
I'm picking up a 1935 VLD rolling basket tomorrow and was wondering if there were any helpful hints out there? This will be my first flathead project and I want to restore it to as close to origianl as possible. I know that the tins, motor, tranny, and clutch are all original and the frame hasn't been cut. I haven't had a chance to go completely through it. Are there any good dealers out there that I can use to help hunt down any parts that i may need (I do know i will need a primary cover)? Thanks!

Steve Slocombe at VL Heaven And Rat at Harbor Vintage are two experts on VL's. They have many original and repop parts. You will want to buy Steve's book as well.

You can get both Inner and Outer primaries from Tom at Replicantmetals as well as other replacement parts. I myself bought a set of tanks for my VL after I found the paint bubbling on the original tanks.
