Cool 1965 Pan speedometer overhaul advice

Yesterday, while riding around doing pretty much nothing, I noted a loud, intermittent screaming sound coming from forward of the engine. At first, I thought it might be generator bearings, but I noticed speedometer fluctuating when noise was worst. Needle then popped off of center arbor, and is floating around in speedo. I will be replacing drive, cable, and would like to overhaul speedo at same time. It appears that the bezel ring is crimped to a flange on the speedo case. I have never tried to dissassemble/reassemble this type of instrument in the past, so I have no idea how to proceed. Maybe I am going into too much detail, but this original dial differs from what I have seen in reproduction speedos. The Harley davidson logo is not the bar and shield, but a block cursive underlined, hyphenated style. Anyway all help appreciated

John Bordas rebuilt a few for me. I don't think very many individuals could do this themselves. Mike
