    Default JD Transmission

What year did JD's get the later transmission with the newer style of clutch release - or better yet what transmission did 1925 have.

    Jerry.
The clutch release fork and the long clutch release lever arm started in 1926.

25 is a one year only transmission, it is the last year of the Eclipse style clutch release but as it is fitted to the new shoe type frame the mainshaft length is different.
You can put a 25 mainshaft into an early style gearbox but I'm not sure if the 26 and later gearbox will fit. There may be chain alignment problems.

Talking chain alignment make sure you use the long sprocket shaft 352-25 in your motor.
It wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone use the pre 25 sprocket shaft and have to strip their engine when they found the chain didn't line up.
