Now that I got the bearings in hand. Here’s another question I’ve always wanted to ask. When ever I install one of these bearings I always removed the seal on the gear box side. Is there any reason to have ether seal in? I mean the kicker side has just as much oil as the gear side. What deference would it make? I figure the bearing would benefit from as much oil as possible. Input please! Bob

This topic makes no sense to me. You say no not the right side bearing but the 9020 or MRC 305) is for the right side. Then, you say you paid $2.97 each for the roller or left side main drive gear bearings each? Hell, thats 44 X 9084 rollers at $ 2.97 each? Your talkin both sides mainshaft bearings er wut?...44 rollers at 2.97 is 120 odd bucks,,,ouch!! The 9020 r/side ball bearing at $17.50 is normal...Joe

Let me clear this up right now. What I stated was the bearings were $2.97 cheaper each at my bearing supply than one at my motorcycle parts wholesalers. As for my last post, I’m talking about the shields on each side of the bearing. I had no problem understanding it why did you?

I always leave the shields in place to block out any debris that may find its way into the bearing. It won't lack lubrication and the oil around the bearing will keep it cool. If you get the SS bearing instead of the FF, it has metal shields, but they are just shields and don't seal the lube in or out. Either one works fine.
