    Question M41 Original Parts

I have been offered a M41 with a 4 line body that seems sound apart from needing new throttle bushes and disc.I was told that all parts except brass float were original.I questioned the finish on the levers and needle knobs and was told it was H-D silver enamel.
I was only aware of nickel plate, parkerized or cadmium plate.
Has anyone ever seen silver enamel on these parts?

50 views to date and no one has a view about painted parts on Linkerts?

I'll take a shot at it. I would guess that in the past someone has used "cad in a can" or "faux cad" (also known as spray paint) to improve the appearance and to avoid the cost of cad or nickel plating. I have nothing against that and have done it myself, but I believe they should tell you the truth about the paint. Never heard of any paint, other than on the body, of later model linkerts. I would believe the body and float bowl of a M41 to have been originally nickle plated. Also, I would chunk the brass float. Most are significantly heavy and will affect tuning and performance. I stand to be corrected on all of this. Good luck with the project.
