Here you go John, RIP Marty!
The date codes will tell you when they were made. The 2 digit code is standard for replacement cases, they should match which means they are a line bored set. Full belly numbers only appear on...
They are quite rare Jason, only late '39 WLDD -'42 WLD models had them (and those are very thin on the ground due to the war years and none cataloged after '42) They show in the catalogs to '46 but...
Palmer's restoration guide has a brake spring chart in it on page 247. It give part number, application, length, wire size, coil size, etc.
Welcome Jason,
Glad your customer got you here. And nice 45. Now to find the elusive WLD big fin cylinders....

I say homemade. The emblem (even the remaining color) is exactly like the reproduction watch fobs sold in the '70s.
I have several British seats with similar front mounts.
With or without your pants???
It was used on 3&R boxes through the '60s, the updated gears for 3&R are -70 part numbers. Apparently not enough out there for an earlier update. If you have a '59 low cluster the bushed third gear...
What year book are you looking at? The info is in the specs in the Panhead service manuals. From '59 up the bushing was eliminated on 4 speeds so late info won't show it. .001-.002 to shaft.

Your pictures appear to show one cylinder with a sleeve, and one without. The 1/4 inch line is merely the top of ring travel. The gold color is heat and oil discoloration common to all engines. If...
A perfect example of not enough info in the original post. Only a few decades separate them....:D
Find a supplier of vintage automotive trim and molding. That vinyl welt with spring is not specific to those seats.
It says Kelsey Hayes, Made in USA. Yes, that is OEM. See if you can find the date code now, it will tell you the year it was made.
And you had quite an adventurous solo ride this year didn't you?
Kibblewhite makes good guides, just cut the bevel on it.
The repops I've seen have the flat type spoke flange with a step added, rather than the thinner radiused flange as an original.
Jerry,
I have a '57 belly numbered -53A right case date coded 5-5 and the generator boss is flat, no concave.

Only issue would be in the future if you ever entered your bike for judging, the heads would cause a points hit. For a rider go with the best cost/performance option that suits you.
Kozy,
The OHV clip is shaped differently than the SV type. The OHV is a one piece heavy spring clip, the SV is two piece with a compound bend to line the cable up correctly.
Not on a UL.., rear cylinder stud as stated previously. The carb support is on the center stud on the left side.
The "Cannonball" is turning into yet another bad joke. Just get on your old bike and go for a ride....
All the 1000 cc Sportsters were copper and that includes two different hole patterns.
Well he did say left case....
Here is an inside picture of a left side late production 54FLE. Note it is a -53 not 53A case with a date code of 9-3.

Wanted to buy or trade for, a factory '38 H-D parts book. Must be original, no reprints. Thanks for any leads on one. I posted this here since the classifieds seem to get little response. It looks...
