Tom,
Attached is a picture of 2 HD carb supports.
Part number 1110-25
They are used to support DLX carbs only when fitted to 1925 to 1929 61 and 74 J model Harleys.
They sit on the fins of the cylinders and the bowl nut sits in the fingers in the centre.

Priceless information, Tommo!

The "prototype" photo with an HX carb certainly threw me a curve.
(Now I shall search my vintage photos for DLX assemblies with that bracket.)

So I assume manifold/carb just sat upon it, with no securing attachments?
No wonder they were probably often pitched...

Tremendous thanks!

Are you sure about the DLX only application?
I don't have the parts book handy but I seem to remember that it just states 1925-1929 61" and 74" models.
I make that part by the way. Hard to find as OEM.

Forgot to add, I'm pretty sure that the flange joint of the manifold and carburetor is what sits in the bent tabs.
See pictures at this link on my website. HX carburetor is shown. Engine shown is a 1927 74" model.

yes, carb/manifold flanges sit on bracket. nothing holds the bracket in place, it won't come out when the carb/manifold sits on it; the 4 bent tabs Mark refers to keep it from moving.
