I opened an account at www.photobucket.com
Now I simply upload my photos there and after it is uploaded I cut the IMG Code for my photo and paste it here. There is no resizing necessary. This is the result.

I dont understand why they change procedures. Why, when adding pics in a meassage, I cant just browse my albums in my computer rather than starting another album in some other site? Whats wrong with the old way when you could use the "browse" box to my files in my pooter. I dont really want to export my info to some other website for storage to acomadate this forum. ...Joe
Joe,
You should be able to post pics directly from your computer. They come up as an attachment.
Hmmm.... looks like the pics have to be approved???

Cory, there seems to be no "browse" box like all other forums and private email sites have. This AMC sites seems to prefer something complex for dummies like me to stay away maybe. Just pay yer dues and try to search a way to navigate this new site when it comes to posting photos from my albums......ha ha..

There's a lot of silly hoops for sure,
but uploading directly to the forum is far better than an external hosting site.
To see why, just scroll down on page ten of the "Old Photos" thread; http://www.antiquemotorcycle.org/bboard/showthread.php?12007-old-photos/page10, and note all the dead Photobucket pics.

Cotten,
They are dead because whoever posted them removed them.

Chris!
I prefer preserving this history to wasting bandwidth with little red Xs.
Why encourage it when it just takes a trip through a bizarre maze of hidden choices on this sites over-complicated format to upload direct?
Its probably the same number of clicks.

PS: RE: bandwidth...
Emoticons ("smiley faces") waste enormous loading time, thus productivity for modern commerce and communications. For that reason alone, they should be abolished for the sake of advancing humanity.

Cotten,
I surely hope that someday you will graduate from dial up to broadband. You will find a whole new world. :D

Chris H: What has dial up and broadband got to do with loading pics the easy way or more accustomed way. What is the advantage to the system they use now whatever you call it. The point I want to male is I dont really want to store pictures in some other website in order to download them for this AMCA site only. Why cant I just have the option to upload from my computer where I have saved them. I just dont get it why they have to change it all around with no solid reason behind it or at least no explanation why or what it is...I prefer the conventional way and I do have pics to submit but just not able to do so anymore like it used to be...

OK Chris, cool, lol. Were all into aniques so much I think some us are antique in the brain also. They hire these new programers to change everything to new unfamiliar ways just after we settle into a system, somebody changes it. The only real advantage I see is if the website is safe. Then, if I copy all my files into some other website, my files would be still available if my pooter crashed. However, how do we know for sure that website doesnt shut down and we loose the files anyway. OR, some one steals em, OR buys them off the failibg website. I like the old way...I should ask the moderator to see if the old option can be made available as it used to be workable for me.....
Joe... I'm gonna try this again and see if I can figure out how to explain it.... :D
O.K. go to the bottom of your message window and click "go advanced" It will open a window. Click the "ad files" (it has a green circle with a plus sign). It will open another window. Click " select files" and it will open another window to access your computer files. Select the picture and click "open". Now back to the previous window and click "done" at the bottom and voila your picture is attached!! Of course it looks as though it has to be approved. Are you confused yet? I think I am...:D Be careful though as I tried a different picture and the file was too large and it wouldn't accept it. I hope this helps.... arrrggg.... I used happy faces! Sorry Cotten!!

OK Cory will try that. By the way, I clicked on your atachement and a box came up saying it was invalid, contact the administrator. Sounds like a problem exists there in your last attachement...
Good Luck!!! I think the problem with the last attachment is it needs to be approved by a moderator.

Probably true, it sez I should contact him. But I wont bother with it right now. I did just try a message with pic but cant do it, I have no "advanced " option to get to the the windows options you mentioned. Maybe I dont have the "right" ha ha...
When you click "reply to thread" and type your message..... at the bottom right beside "post quick reply" is the "go advanced" button....

Somebody out there thinks we are all computer enthusiast geeks and not antique bike enthusiast. lol,,,
Joe! If I forced myself to learn this stuff then so can you! Computers were an optional deal when I went to high school and I didn't think it was worth pursuing. Was I ever wrong!!! When your done typing your message are you scrolling down to the "Additional Options"? This is where your "Manage Attachments" button is. If you click it you should be on your way. Kevin posted another set of instructions here.... http://www.antiquemotorcycle.org/bboard/showthread.php?17147-Instructions-for-posting-pictures&p=104028#post104028 maybe you can glean a little more from his words... ;)

Geeeze,
They didn't even have hand held calculators when I was in high school. :D
If it's any consolation my school had one or two computers with the green screens...:D Being from my generation I also missed out on those hundred dollar Big Twins!!!

Yeah, I bought a 1950 EL for fifty bucks and told the wify I paid 25 for it. That was back in 66 when the hippies and such were chopping em. However, after selling it, it got sadly choped in end as well....

There is no good reason it should take nine clicks to upload a photo
How do I make thumbnails to appear full size?

And why does this pic require approval when five minutes ago I posted one that did not?

Cotton, hit em with a hammer, they should enlarge fairly quickly. Its kinda like if your brake light in the car that stays on and bugs ya, just cut the indicator wire with a pair of sidecutters. That works for me....
