Looking For New Members
By Matt Olsen
Since my last update a lot of exciting things have happened with the
Youth Program. We had our first meeting in September at the annual
Davenport National meet. The meeting went over well; we recruited
eight new members from all over the country and even a couple from
Canada. It was an interesting event where everyone introduced themselves
and talked about either the type of bike they had, liked, or wanted.
The topic bikes ranged anywhere from Triumph Choppers to Harley JDs
to Flying Merkels. It was fun to meet everyone and make some new friends.
The second event that happened has to do with recruiting new members.
At the yearly board meeting in Davenport the Board of Directors voted
for a free one-year trial membership for all youth program members.
This is a great opportunity to recruit new members for our club. If
you know anyone in the 14 to 25 year-old age range that is even vaguely
interested in old motorcycles, send them my way and I will forward
information to the appropriate people so that they can get their trial
membership. They will receive four free issues of our wonderful magazine
and all the other perks of being an AMCA member, and, hopefully, get
hooked on the world of antique motorcycles. This is a big deal and
it will, hopefully, bring in not only new Youth Program members, but
new AMCA members as well.
