The Fort Sutter Chapter is happy to report that our 2007 national meet was not only a success but a happy experience as well. Under the astute direction of Chapter Vice-President, Mark Milton, the "worker bees" hummed their way through three beautiful sunlit days. The result was a Meet that exceeded all our expectations.
Vendor attendance was about the same as 2006 but overall attendance was up, particularly the walk-in traffic. Improvements in our pre-event advertising headed by Tunie Crawford helped assure more participation by the general public. Additionally, Chapter President, Rich Hardmeyer, led a delegation for a public affairs spot on Sacramento television. Chapter Secretary, Tom Green, acted as spokesperson and did his usual stellar job of representing the Chapter.

We opened our gates Thursday afternoon for our early arrival vendors and welcomed them with a BBQ. By Friday noon nearly all vendors were on site. By all reports, the vendors did well over Friday and Saturday.
A total of 48 display bikes were presented including Richard Morris' beautiful 1916 Militaire with its polished wooden-spoke artillery wheels. Dick Crawford's fresh 1941 Indian Scout Bobber made its debut and went on to win the People's Choice Award.

The Field Meet was a "hoot" as usual, overseen by Chapter member Shawn Ralls. Mark Milton took First Place (as expected), with Paul Thomas and Vicki Milton sharing Second Place, and Ron Ostarello and Gary Stark tied for Third.

There were 37 motorcycles presented for AMCA National Judging. After a Judge's lunch prepared by Barbara Hardmeyer and Tunie Crawford, the Judges commenced the arduous and largely thankless job of inspecting the bikes. Overall, it was an excellent representation of some fine, well-cared-for machines.

For oddballs it's hard to beat a Militaire. Here is Richard Morris' 1916 model.
The Meet concluded with a great banquet Saturday night where National Deputy Judge "Red Fred" Johansen awarded the trophies and plaques to the judged motorcycle winners.
We again had to deal with Father's Day weekend as well as graduation from the nearby University of California at Davis. Luckily we were able to secure a date for next year that will not conflict with either of these two events. The 2008 event will be held June 20 and 21, with a members only ride on Sunday, June 22.
Many folks assisted in making this Meet a success and this list must include Diana Hunt, our Web Wrench. She has expanded and improved our web site, www.amcafortsutter.org , and has posted a number of photos from the Meet for the enjoyment of all.
