1941 Indian Four
"Loaned" by Tim Graber

The Southern California Chapter of the AMCA, ably led by Tim, holds an annual road run at Borrego Springs. A few years back, Tim was approached by an older gentleman who had this Indian, and he had bought it new. After a year or so of correspondence, Tim bought this unrestored original Indian. The owner was a contractor, and told stories of travelling to job sites on the bike with a bag of cement in each saddle bag, along with the other tools of his trade. Its all original except for the exhaust pipe which was fabricated from a model "A" Ford driveshaft! Tim is delighted with the bike, and hopes to preserve it in its original form. The skirted fenders on this four first made their appearance in 1940, and the skirted fender Indians, both fours and twins, are among the most coveted of American machines. The skirted fenders (mudguards) continued through until the last American Indian rolled out of the "wigwam" in 1953.
